Dear JHJC Member,

After seven years we believe it is time to make several much needed adjustments to our membership dues and fees structure. The changes come in three areas: High Holy Day ticketing, membership dues payment options, and a membership dues evaluation system.

  1. High Holy Day Tickets

As in most synagogues around the country we are initiating a ticket program for the High Holy Days. Tickets to the services are a privilege of membership, and each family will be entitled to tickets for the adults and children in the household. There will be a membership check-list at the door. Tickets for visiting family members will have to be purchased, but it will be at a reduced rate. Non-members or visitors from out of town who are not related to family in the JHJC will have to buy tickets.

For the High Holy Days we are planning to publish a membership list.  Therefore, we ask that you submit your pledges by August 31 for inclusion in this listing.

  2. This year, for your convenience, we are accepting Visa and MasterCard for any and all payments to the JHJC. We will also be happy to set up a payment schedule. Please call Andrea in the office if you are interested in this option. These choices will make it easier for everyone to fulfill their commitments to the JHJC.

  3. In keeping with our long-held desire for our community to remain inclusive and welcoming to everyone who wishes to participate in any of our events, we have established a membership committee to address any financial concerns or hardships that may arise from our dues and fees. We urge anyone who wishes to discuss the new structure to contact Phyllis Turtle at 739-3093. The JHJC will never deny membership to anyone who truly lacks the resources to be a part of our congregation.

We hope you understand that the dues and fees we ask of our members are the foundation of our operating budget. While we do not have our own building, the JHJC is a special place of belonging for each of us. Respecting the value of our community and understanding the dollar costs associated with maintaining an active presence makes it essential for all of us to do our part. As such, we would encourage those who are financially able to do so, to support the JHJC with a dues level above that which is suggested.

As we begin to get ready for the new Jewish year, let us all recognize that there is a special joy we should take in our friendship and the connectedness through the JHJC. Together we can continue to grow and build a thriving Jewish community in our beautiful valley.

We thank all of you for your support and help.
